Moving on with this Fedrigoni brief me and Andy decided to explore the heritage and history of the company, we decided to just generate a few initial ideas and we initially thought about huge installations crafted from the paper of the company, my initial ideas where to create italian icons such as people, products buildings, and food. The target audience is mainly Printers so our designs can be fairly influenced by current design styles and this really gave us a chance to create something innovative.
We came up with the idea to produce a pizza crafted fully from the papers of fedrigoni, We felt that the pizza was obviously a direct link to the heritage and history and an icon of italy.
We also that each pizza would come with an individual ingreedients list that would be explanation of the stock used,

I have looked at a range of paper craft in the form of food, and have analysed the techniques used, this is great in terms of informing us on how to approach the designs for our brief, The designs below are by artist and designer Sarah Illenberger created this paper craft design for the Papercraft book cover, She did this with the help of Photographer Ragnar Schmuck, The Beautifully crafted designs are placed in juxtaposition with one another using white space between to create a beautifully clean design, i feel this is a necessity if using hand crafted designs as this can sometimes look overcrowded and messy. It is the beautiful execution of her work that makes her designs recognisable however the most recognisable aspect to me is how she has simplified the shapes for example look at how the slices of bacon have now been made into a simple rectangular shape this not only communicates the message in an innovative method but also makes it much more simple in terms of construction in turn meaning that the finish that is achieved will be as clean as possible.
The images below show some beautiful posters that where created by the swedish graphic designer Daniel Carsten
I feel the combination of the paper craft and the simplicity of this poster layout and design works very effectively
as i feel it could easily become to busy and create an overcrowded design causing confusion.
The image below displayes a series of hand crafted material by the French paper collective Paper Donut. I
love how the paper is crafted to create 3d forms that look beautiful when photographed me and Andy where very
curious to how these forms have been created if there is a supporting structure on the inside or
the stocks used are specific to the form you are creating for example larger forms are made from
thicker stocks? I feel that me and Andy should contact some of these designer to gain a greater
understanding of how they have crafted these structures.
The design below shows the cover design for Icon Magazine 104 this was all about the future of food and was
inspired by the 3D food printer technology, it was created by french studio zim & zou who specialise in paper craft,
illustration and graphic. Our collaboration projects aim is to create a 3d structure of italian food.
In terms of communicating futuristic element this is achieved by the use of bright colours and innovative
modern shapes that are geometric and this int urn will be easier to construct. This is something that we will
take into consideration as it not only gives a beautifully clean aesthetic but also simplifies
the construction of the products.
