In terms of looking at the work of my competitors i decided to look at a few of the most effective brands in my opinion, I have decided to look at the branding of more 4 as i feel this is one of the most effective. The brand is also targeting a similar audience to mine.
Aspects of their website that i feel are effective and what is not effective.
Effective_
Very strong navigation
time line at the top of the page is exelent
Strong Hiararchy
Not Effective_
In my opinion the slider just makes the web design slightly confusing
Scrap book aspect is also slightly confusing
I feel the over all branding of 3 four is weak however it comes across very strongly across all media, however i feel there are some aspects are that are not effective i feel for one that the purple colour is very dated.
In terms of the web design i have again selected key features that i feel are effective or not effective_
Effective_
A much more user friendly approach to the whole display of content
the search bar is effective in terms of finding what you want quickly_
Not Effective_
The whole aesthetic of the brads identity is very dated and i feel is slightly stuck in the past.
I feel that the new brand and identity of Itv is highly effective i once again can see how the designer has used multiple colours that incorporate neutral colours that appeal to both sexes and in my opinion this design appeals to a large age range. This is something i will take into consideration for my web design.
The two designs below show how branding can be created to target a specific audience individually, for example film four targets a large range of audience in terms of gender and age however it is based all on people who want to watch films only it is all about bringing the cinema to the home this is reflected by the use of the red colour that is an often representative of the cinematic experience, And another brand the targets a specific audience is dave just the simple use of brand name and strap line make the channel appeal to men, this is in conjunction with the channels that are shown on the channel.
