Colour Workshop: Exploring Colour 2

During todays session we looked at the examples of print that we where told to bring in i selected a range of products from Dvd packaging to editorial design all designs that i felt where highly effective down to stock, format or printing technique.

Tint - cheaper uses same ink

Trio chromatic inks - this ink is not dense so they overlap other inks

Ruby lip - overprint a colour would be cut out of a stencil.

Print examples:

Leeds college of art Exhibition editorial:

The Bourne Trilogy Packaging

Dairy milk Packaging: This demonstrates a high quality print onto a low quality stock, the print uses CMYK the use of poor stock means and high quality print means that the product can be produced at a mass scale and in turn keep the cost down, however the product will still maintain a high quality finish because if the print.

Sanpelegrino Can: This would be printed using CMYK and would be pad printed, the can has had a white undercoat printed on i feel this is highly effective in making the colour really vibrant and stand out. there is also a use of spot colours on the upper and lower sections of the package really stand out grasping the viewers attention.

On the run Paint packaging this would be printed using pad printing which is the application of print to a 3d object, the print is a 1 colour print so could be printed in mass quickly i feel that the use of one colour print on transparent packaging is highly effective as you see the product inside.

D. Leonardt & Co. tin: this tin demonstrates a CYMK print that would be pad printed the technique of applying print to a 3d object, it is then printed onto the raw stock i feel this give a lovely vintage aesthetic. I feel that this is what the design was wanting to portray, high quality and classy aesthetic.
