Responsive: What is been Done: United Nations

I have decided to look into what is ben done to combat the problem i am raising awareness for, i have found that the statistics are overwhelming of how many people there are out there without somewhere to call home. The campaign that is [UN-Habitat]  The United Nations Human Settlements Programme. This programme works to give the homeless a home.

I have proceeded to look at the statistical information that is published by this organisation:

1.1 billion people live in inadequate housing conditions in urban areas alone, while an estimated 100 million have no housing whatsoever. In the United States, one of the wealthier developed countries, according to a 2007 study by the U.S. National Law Center on Homelessness and Poverty, some 3.5 million Americans experience homelessness each year. Children make up 23% of people experiencing homelessness in the United States, and 42% of those children are under 5 years old. In many cities of developing countries, more than half of the population lives in informal settlements, without security of tenure and in conditions that can be described as life and health threatening. According to UN-HABITAT, India has lifted 59.7 million people out of slum conditions since the year 2000, but slum dwellers still make up 28.1% of India’s population today. Although there is currently no global definition for homelessness and legal definitions vary from country to country, the element common to all homeless persons is lack of a stable residence to call home.

Although i feel this information would have a moving effect on the audience i feel that is not going to get a reasonable audience as it is text based many people don't really have or want to spend a few minutes reading this i feel this is where my poster design will solve the problem, i believe the striking images will grasp the viewers attention and the image will communicate the message rather than the block body copy. The public will not see "Homeless", "Tramp" or even seen as a percentage no one has feelings for a percentage but i do feel the audience will connect with the image if i am able to achieve the right one.
