Context Of Practice: Selecting Idea:

The Process that we went through this afternoon was based on everything we have learnt in the sessions with Richard and Jo, we where to go through our design context blogs and select aspects that i have interests in. I found the session highly productive in the sense of idea generation for a final outcome. Some of the rationale's i produced i soon came to realise they where un achievable or would not be that effective in informing the audience:

so we displayed our ideas:
As you can see we then created a brief design idea underneath our rationales, this allowed us to then select the ideas we feel would be effective. This was beneficial as it also informed me on ideas that would not work weather it was down to the subject being to broad or the idea not really being effective for communication.

From this point we walked around the class observing other peoples ideas and basically just brought together an overall understanding on what everyone was doing. The next stage of the process was to eliminate any ideas that where showing any sign of fault or ones that we felt where weaker than the rest. The image below shows the ideas that where remaining:

Ideas:

Visual communication:
I aim to produce a series of poster designs that show how visual communication works. The poster designs would consist of minimal body text and i would aim to communicate a message on what i have researched on the subject using the visuals of icon design and mapping.

Post modernist GD vs Modernist GD:

I aim to create a booklet design that shows the arguments/differences between modernist GD and Postmodernist GD this would be effective in the fact that post modernist GD was a reaction to Modernist GD I will design each spread in the style of each subject.

I will decide on a final idea and will produce a range of Research into the subject itself and the product i will experiment with designs visually then present my ideas to the group.
