RICHARD AND JO MATERIAL AND IDEAS:

Lecture - History of Typography: I have been very intrigued by this and how the process developed i could look into how typography changed the world and how the introduction of the guttenberg press spread typography around the wold what opportunities it opened up, There is a large amount of research that i have already covered on this subject i feel that it would work well as a publication as i could highlight the key points in the history of type.

Seminar - Postmodernist GD Modernist GD: I have decided that i could produce this publication showing the differences and the arguments between post modernist GD and modernist GD almost like a "vs" looking into the direction and meaning behind both styles.

Lecture Film making: Hitchcock: I was extremely interested in learning more about the Hithcock film just on the way he communicated a meaning and a message so effectively using no sound, the publication could look into how he did this and information on some of the techniques used.

Visual communication: I have looked into visual communication many times for other briefs i love the way a message or an order can be communicated using the simplest of visuals, I feel the most interesting part of it is that message can be recognised in a fraction of a second, I feel that a publication on this could be made very visual and still communicate the message strongly.

Manifesto's: After looking at some examples of manifesto's that are already out there, and then realising how motivating and inspiring they are I felt that i could produce my own but make the design visual so the viewer could some how react with the design - this would be a publication thats purpose is to motivate people about for example everyday life.

Critique's: Throughout my time at LCA up until this point we have experimented with many different types of critique, i have experienced this with my own work in the studio and we have looked in depth at the process in design context with Jo, I have become very interested in the subject after receiving some poor crit feed back with one of my projects i was thinking about creating a publication that shows the questions to ask your self and ask others and basically how to crit your own and others work - I feel i will have to experiment a lot with this to create something that is visually appealing but still holds alot of information - The publication would mainly be aimed at us as designers.

Street art: I have been into street art since before i came to LCA I feel if i where to create a publication based on this subject i would have to research much more than what was shown to us in the lecture. The lecture didn't really delve into the backgrounds of graffiti and this is the key feature that interest me the most. I am unsure weather i will follow up this idea as i feel visually it would be very hard to do some graf designs digitally without making it look poor.

Russian Constructivism: I was very intrigued in the way that the politics and movements socially inspired the artwork and how messages from the revolution where part of the design, i feel that with further research into the subject i feel i could produce something very interesting. I am wanting to create something new and innovative however i feel this would be very difficult with russian constuctivism as there is always a recurring colour pattern and in many cases a recurrence of visual material.
